As you might have seen, we have released our latest and greatest clock called Roman Time, as seen on the front page of our website. It marks the beginning of our series, entitled Roaming Time, that will explore how time becomes figural through relations of positioning, numbering, and scaling. The strands of the clock accumulate and disperse, establish and then reestablish their identities as layers of Roman numerals X, V, and I — roaming and repositioning across the clock face. The Roaming Time Series will be a collaboration with New York architect Mark Rakatansky, with whom we will continue to question meaning and material in the context of clock making.

The clock series stems from the well known Para Clocks Project, but instead of relying on an infinite group of radially arrayed curves as Para Clocks is, Iso Clocks are more geometrically intricate. The mathematics of an isometry can be defined as a distance-preserving map between metric areas, constituting a translational movement over time.  In this series, we crystallize groups of rectangles, hexagons, and dodecagons into maps of overlayed geometries and the effect is like looking through a kaleidoscope.
